In 2021, Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen carried out research which showed, ultrasonic + UVC can kill 99.97% bacteria without any cleaning chemical! This is the same technology that Sonic Spa uses for our Sonic Spa Pod Ultracleaner!We have outlined some of their findings below.
Ultrasonic technology
Ultraviolet germicidal light-emitting diodes (275nm) are very effective for the cleaning of clear aligners and the expulsion of viable cells of oral microbes from the aligner surface.
Viability of bacterial count
The viability of bacterial colonies on cleaned dental products is reduced by 88.6% for a cleaning time of 5 minutes and 99.97% for a cleaning time of 10 minutes.
